A Note on the Examination of Samples Submitted under the Agricultural Lime Scheme
Abstract
A Note on the Examination of Samples Submitted under the Agricultural Lime Scheme by J. Bernard Dyer and Partners Ltd.,20 Eastcheap, London, E.C.3) t(Public Analyst’s Laboratories, 6, Clarence Road, Norwich, NOR 29f) Since the publication of a joint paperl under the above title three points have been brought to the attention of the authors. It is thought that the original recommendations could be slightly modified with advantage to meet the points raised, and the new proposals are as follows:- First, under the heading “Neutralising Value”, it was recommended that after the portions into which the sample had been divided by the sieving test had been re-combined, the whole sample should be ground to pass a British Standard Test Sieve, Mesh No. This is easy enough ifthe analyst possesses a suitable power-driven grinding mill, but would be a laborious procedure if the sample had to be ground by hand.
