Abstract

This followed preliminary consultation with representatives ol the spirit tr.ade from wliich it was apparent that there was a need for the development and publication of acceptable analytical methods for determining the congeners (substances formed with the alcohol during fermentation and during maturation) in potable spirits. lt was felt that this could be achieved by a collaborative scientific exercise between governmental and trade interests.
