This report relates to work undertaken by eight Public Analysts’ Labora- tories in the South West in a collaborative survey of flsh products for metallic contamination. The survey came about largely as a result of the disclosure by the U.S. Autholities in December 1970 that undesirable levels of mercury in the form of methyl mercury compounds had been discovered in tuna fish.
